Which is the best “new” computer?
I am looking to get a new computer, but not necessarily the newest model, just whatever is in stores and I want some advice. Here is what I am looking for. I don’t care what brand, but not a desktop.
Must require DDR2 ram.
Pre-installed should be at least a 1 gig.
Must have at least a CD-rom/burner.
Battery type should be cheap to replace. I prefer something with at last 2 hours of life.
Should not overheat too much or too quickly.
Decent sound and graphics card.
Internal wireless adapter.
Good speakers.
Decent price so that I wont feel bad about purchasing the newest office suite (if you include an approximate of this information, I would be appreciative).
What (brand, especially) would you recommend and why?
The reason I ask is that it is 9:42 I have a final due tomorrow that I have not yet typed out (not that it will take more than 30 minutes) but my stupid Toshiba Satellite’s not receiving power which could be a problem with a slipped mother board, the power jack, the jack on the motherboard, or hopefully something that is cheaper than buying a new laptop. Only the crooks at GeekSquad will tell.
As a follow-up (another asker’s question inspired me). I also have no opinion between mac and pc? So I am not attached to either since I own both in desktop forms.

Is this PC enought to play new games?
Hi, I’m about to buy a new PC, I wonder if it can handle new games on highest settings. I’m talking about 2007-2009 games. Because my PC got 6150 LE and it sucks. I play Team Fortress 2 with a command -dxlevel 81 on high. The graphics sucks, but its the only way I can play it smooth. So, I wonder if this PC is good enough to handle Valve games and new games. BTW I only play FPS on PC. ( I WANT TO PLAY GAMES ON HIGH, CUZ IF I PLAY LOW/MEDIUM I GET CONFUESED

Will this laptops specs suffice for games such as Guild Wars and requiem bloodymare?
I’m really only worried about the graphics card because it’s integrated. But I’m not exactly a hardcore gamer and I thought that GW on my Gateway desktop was fine even though it only had 1 GB RAM and the worst CPU in the world. What do you think about these specs?
320 GB HD
4 GB RAM
Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
With 128MB-1759MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory. Built-in Harman/Kardon speakers.
Intel® Centrino® processor technology with Intel® Core™2 Duo mobile processor T6400
Intel® GM45 chipset, Intel® Wireless Wi-Fi Link 5100AGN network connection (802.11a/b/g/n) and extended battery life.
Why won't my pc stay on?
When I boot up and I boot from a cd, like I’m trying to install A linux distro, SO, It starts installing and it just shuts off instantly, it also did this when I was installing WIndows VIsta, so when I start it up normally it will stay on, Is it the power supply
SPecs you might need
- Allied 500 watt power supply
- 3 80mm blue led fans
- 1 graphics card cooler fan with blue led’s
- Intel Core 2 Duo
- HP dvd 1040i cd drive
- 320GB HArd Drive
- Asus P5B motherboard
- 1 GB ram
- Niko 20” Widescreen LCD
- Logitech 5.1 speakers
- Logitech S510 wireless keyboard and mouse
- 1 OCZ Heatsink 92mm Blue led fan (Coming in Thursday, I currently have the stock intel cooling fan)
I’m leaning toward the power supply not having enough power or the Intel Core 2 Duo getting really hot, but it cant be because I have it on top of an air conditioner vent.
The case is at 81.3 degrees fahrenhiet on the inside.
and an NVIDIA 7300 GS 256mb graphics card
