Can you advise me on a comprehensive home audio setup?

I have a bunch of different pieces of equipment, but I have a big house and I want to put something together that makes sense and has multi-room functionality. As it is right now, I can’t listen to the same thing in more than one room, and I don’t feel like I have a central location in which to play music from. I wish to improve this with something smart and (hopefully) simple. I’d like to work with my equipment if possible, but I’m open to other ideas if I’m better off without it.

Here’s what all I have to work with: One Onkyo HIB (5 small speakers, passive sub, tuner), One Yamaha Tuner, one cheap set of outdoor speakers, one pc with a decent external speaker set, one macbook laptop, a wireless network, and 2 ipods.

Thanks very much!

Tutorial – How to set up Stereo Speakers on your Computer

–WARNING– There is an EAR RAPE near the end of the video. Turn your speakers down near the end of the vid! –END WARNING– Tired of the speakers that came with your computer? What if I said you could use a set of massive stereo speakers in place of those crappy speakers! This tutorial shows you how to use your stereo speakers with your computer. Needed: Stereo with Speakers installed and cassette tape deck Cassette Tape adapter (with 1/8 headphone plug in) Computer with a headphone jack Procedure: 1. Insert the Tape adapter into the tape deck 2. Plug the adapter into the computer’s headphone jack 3. Make sure your stereo is on, and in “TAPE” mode, and hit play. 4. If needed, configure the volume levels on your computer and your stereo to fit your liking. Now, you can get a better sound experience from your computer. This is also great for home recording studios –Installing the Speakers to your stereo– 0. Look at the ends of the two wires protruding from each of the speakers. One end should be red, the other black. Now, look at the back of your stereo. You should find two sets (for each speaker) of two ports, one red, and one black (Each port has both colors), most likely with switches to hold the wires down. 1. Carefully lift up the switches. 2. Insert the correct color wire into the coresponding port. Do the same for the other speaker. 3. Carefully press down the switches. Your speakers should be working properly now. Cover – Far Behind – Candlebox

Check out my playlist titled “Originals” for some original songs! In this playlist, it is me and my best friend, Tony, doing an acoustic set of some of our original songs. Me in my garage messing around with some Karaoke. This is my rendition of “Far Behind” by Candlebox. If you have shitty PC speakers, give headphones a try for a better sound. If you’d like to see more, i’ll be uploading a bunch of these…just have a look at my profile. I’m using a Sony Cybershot(DSC-P200) 7.2 megapixel camera to shoot the video…wanted to see how good it would sound in an enclosed room with the music blaring. While it’s no professional recording, I cannot believe how decent the sound came out on this CAMERA video…about 2 feet from the blasting speakers too. Jerry Garcia Pete Grant and Grateful Dead on Porrazzo AMT Speakers Changing Music Intro.avi

Arguably one of the most influential musicians and Rock Groups Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead embraced innovation and interactive technologies. Pete Grant, guitarist for the Dead discusses his passion for the Porrazzo Advanced Membrane Transducer—AMT and what it will do to revolutionize the music and entertainment industry, especially live performances. The Porrazzo AMT, Simultaneously a Digital Loudspeaker, Microphone, Wireless Antenna, Wireless 3D Sensor, Real-Time Controller, Imaging System and More: The Porrazzo system for creating high definition sound is a patented, unique combination Audio and RF technology which includes a new and highly superior flexible membrane speaker created by inventor Michael Porrazzo. In much the same way that video software and computer hardware address and manipulate video display pixels, the Porrazzo AMT Speakers allow the independent addressing of individual Sound Pixels® Cells. The rendering of video images is improved by better control of video pixels creating what is now called High Definition Television (HDTV). The same type of improved control in the audio environment is achievable by the use of the AMTs Sound Pixel® Cells and creates what can be called high definition sound HDS. Given the increasingly complex demands of the consumer and the varied, multi-function roles that transducers will be called upon to perform in the next generation of electronics products, the concept of Sound Pixel® Cells will become a standard for

Why is the audio on my computer failing?

Okay, so I just put together a new desktop with Windows XP. Everything works perfectly other than the fact that my audio doesn’t work. When I go to control panel –> sounds and audio devices, everything is grayed out, including sound playback and sound recording drop downs, and it says there is no audio device.

I am certain that the computer has a sound card with Legacy Audio Drivers and the audio codecs.
I have tried wireless headphones, speakers, and wired headphones. None work.
I also entered setup and made sure the audio device BIOS was enabled.

Any ideas on how to get the audio working so that I can at least listen to music and movies?

How to stream audio from computer (Macbook) to speakers wirelessly or with bluetooth?

Is there a way or a device that lets me plug something into my computer and something into my speakers wirelessly so I can stream my music to my speakers from my computer so I can move around with my computer and not be directly plugged into my speakers. Any way to do this either via wireless or bluetooth? And I have a mac if it makes a difference. Thanks

Logitech Z5500 Unboxing and Review

I actually got these speakers a few weeks ago at PLE Computers but only uploaded it today. These were actually released 6 years ago but they’re still Logitech’s top of the line 5.1 PC Speakers. I haven’t got a sound card yet so I’ve been limited to listening to music from my iPod Touch. However, it still sounds amazing. Better than my Sennheiser CX-300II earphones. Listening to music has never been so good, especially in 5.1 (using the Dolby Pro Logic 2 effect). I haven’t been able to hook any 5.1 movies up to it yet though. I would give these speakers a 4.5/5 for PC Speakers. The only thing holding it back is that because it being so old, it does not decode HD Audio on blurays but I can’t comment yet on bluray sound quality as I haven’t tried any.
